Articles made of rubber or TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) are produced from previously prepared compounds. Typically, there is an intermediate storage period between the compound manufacturing and the processing of the article. It is crucial that the compound does not stick together during this period, as it would become unprocessable.
Unvulcanized rubber compounds can be produced in the form of sheets or strips, in pellet form, or as granules. Depending on the form and type of subsequent processing, the requirements for the release agent vary significantly. PROMOL® release agents create a separation film on the surface of the rubber compound, preventing undesired adhesion and ensuring efficient further processing.
Similar to the development of compounds, for example, in the tire manufacturing sector (silica technology for treads), release agents for rubber compound production must also be adapted. To meet the growing demands, our release agents are continuously developed.
In the field of rubber compound release agents, we differentiate between products with and without fillers. Products with fillers are preferably delivered in powder form, in packaging such as FIBC, PE bags, paper bags, or water-soluble bags. These powders are mainly used in the production of tires (of any kind), in the manufacture of materials for tire retreading, and in the production of conveyor belts.
Filler-free products, often based on meltable ingredients, are typically supplied as liquid concentrates, in packaging such as IBCs, barrels, cans, or buckets. These products are mainly used in rubber compounds from which (potentially) technical rubber articles are produced. Therefore, these products are also preferred by custom compounders.
The choice of the right release agent also depends on the type of equipment for coating and cooling the rubber compound. Typical plant concepts for this purpose include batch-off or strip plants, Rotostrip, and horizontal belt plants. It is also important to know whether additional water cooling is used or only air blowers.
PROMOL® release agents practically do not interact with the rubber compound, as they behave inertly in the compound.
PROMOL® 1395 is a beige, water-dispersible powder used in the rubber industry to prevent surface sticking of unvulcanized rubber compounds in the form of sheets or strips. It is used in the dipping unit of batch-off lines or similar application devices.

Because of the very good separating effect also with soft and cold-flowing compounds and the good stability of the ready-to-use dispersion, PROMOL® 1264C provides an easy, economical and fairly clean method of working in the millroom.
